Piers and columns, fundamental elements in construction, are classified based on the shape of the concrete body: round end pier, rectangular pier, portal pier, and frame pier.
In railway engineering, the round-end pier column is the most prevalent type, including hyperbolic piers, corbel piers (heaven and earth circle/upper circle and lower circle), hollow piers, and more. These formworks are typically reinforced using tie rods or trusses.
The selection of formwork material is driven by precise mechanical model calculations. The manufacturing process for pier column formwork is markedly different from that of standard combined steel formworks. Generally, the construction unit provides component design drawings, which formwork designers then use to create the final product.
