Piers and columns, fundamental components in construction, are categorized by the shape of the concrete body: round end pier, rectangular pier, portal pier, and frame pier.
In railway engineering, the round-end pier column prevails, including hyperbolic piers, corbel piers (heaven and earth circle/upper circle and lower circle), hollow piers, and beyond. These formworks are typically fortified using tie rods or trusses.
The selection of formwork material is driven by mechanical model calculations. Manufacturing pier column formwork differs significantly from standard combined steel formworks. Generally, construction units provide component design drawings, which formwork designers then translate into the final product.
