Piers and columns, vital elements in construction, are classified based on the shape of the concrete structure: round-end pier, rectangular pier, portal pier, and frame pier.
In railway engineering, the round-end pier column is the predominant type, encompassing hyperbolic piers, corbel piers (heaven and earth circle/upper circle and lower circle), hollow piers, and more. These formworks are typically reinforced using tie rods or trusses.
