Piers and columns are crucial elements in construction and are classified based on the concrete body shape: round end pier, rectangular pier, portal pier, and frame pier.
In railway engineering, the round-end pier column is the most prevalent type, including hyperbolic piers, corbel piers (heaven and earth circle/upper circle and lower circle), hollow piers, and others. These formworks are typically reinforced with tie rods or trusses.
The choice of formwork material is determined by mechanical model calculations. The manufacturing process for pier column formwork is quite distinct from standard combined steel formworks.
