Piers and columns are fundamental components in construction, categorized by the shape of the concrete structure: round end pier, rectangular pier, portal pier, and frame pier.
In railway engineering, the round-end pier column is the predominant type, including hyperbolic piers, corbel piers (heaven and earth circle/upper circle and lower circle), hollow piers, and more. These formworks are typically reinforced using tie rods or trusses.
The selection of formwork material is guided by precise mechanical model calculations. The manufacturing process for pier column formwork markedly differs from that of standard combined steel formworks. Typically, the construction unit provides component design drawings, which formwork designers then employ to create the final product.
