Piers and columns are foundational components in construction, classified by the shape of the concrete body: round end pier, rectangular pier, portal pier, and frame pier.
In railway engineering, the predominant form is the round-end pier column, which includes hyperbolic piers, corbel piers (heaven and earth circle/upper circle and lower circle), hollow piers, and more. These formworks are typically fortified using tie rods or trusses.
The choice of formwork material is dictated by mechanical model calculations. The manufacturing process for pier column formwork is distinct from that of standard combined steel formworks.
