Piers and columns, vital components in construction, are categorized based on the concrete body shape: round end pier, rectangular pier, portal pier, and frame pier.
In railway engineering, the round-end pier column is the most prevalent type, covering hyperbolic piers, corbel piers (heaven and earth circle/upper circle and lower circle), hollow piers, and more. These formworks are generally reinforced using tie rods or trusses.
