Piers and columns serve as the backbone of construction, categorized by the shape of the concrete body: round end pier, rectangular pier, portal pier, and frame pier.
In railway engineering, round-end pier columns are predominantly used, including hyperbolic piers, corbel piers (heaven and earth circle/upper circle and lower circle), hollow piers, and more. These formworks are reinforced using tie rods or trusses to ensure structural integrity.
The selection of formwork material is determined by precise mechanical model calculations. The manufacturing process for pier column formwork is distinctly different from that of standard combined steel formworks.
