Piers and columns are vital elements in construction and are categorized based on the shape of the concrete body: round end pier, rectangular pier, portal pier, and frame pier.
In railway engineering, the round-end pier column is the predominant type, including hyperbolic piers, corbel piers (heaven and earth circle/upper circle and lower circle), hollow piers, and more. Typically reinforced using tie rods or trusses, these formworks ensure structural integrity.
The selection of formwork material is guided by mechanical model calculations. The manufacturing process for pier column formwork differs significantly from that of standard combined steel formworks. Typically, the construction unit provides component design drawings, which are then used by formwork designers to create the final product.
